Bye Bye, Windows

When I bought my Macbook Pro back in April, the prospect of consolidating my computer-based lives into one machine was finally a reality. Using Apple's Boot Camp software, I could create a dual-boot scenario where I can run both Mac OS X and Windows in their native forms without virtualization or emulation.

After six months, the experiment is over. Within the first three days of owning the MacBook I had Windows installed and running on my new Mac hardware. And wouldn't you know it, I've not booted into Windows since. So I've decided to reclaim my hard drive and opt for virtualization instead, in the rare event I need to boot Windows.

I've also decommissioned my Windows workstation which I previously used for the last four years. I've not booted that machine since May. So my lone remaining Windows machine is my media box hooked up to my home theater. I don't have plans to replace that box right now, but I'll sure keep my eye out for Apple's "iTV."

About

MeI’m Jonathan Brown. I write software during the day, I bootstrap businesses at night and I’m a father on weekends. It’s not how I designed it, but that’s how it worked out.

Oddly enough, I hate reading and love writing. I can’t find time to do either. I only read non-fiction—typically business books and magazines.
