Five Year Old Exposes Religion

My five year old daughter has been going to a summer camp at a Christian private school. They don’t have a Bible study class, but I guess the camp instructors weave in “God’s word” throughout the day.

Last week my daughter’s mother called to tell me how badly she’s been behaving of late. My daughter is a very sweet girl. She has her moments, but a bad girl she is not. So I asked my Ex-wife what the girl was doing. She wasn’t listening. That’s been going on for some time, but apparently she’s stepped it up a level. So my Ex has taken to disciplining her by taking some of her toys away and donating them to Goodwill. Obviously this upsets my daughter.

She’s figured out, at the ripe old age of five, that she can manipulate other people by using “God’s word.”

“Jesus says you have to be nice to everyone, so you have to be nice to me, Mom!” she yells.

Ah, yes, the problem with religions– using it to get what you want or to get people to act the way you want.

Smart girl.

About

MeI’m Jonathan Brown. I write software during the day, I bootstrap businesses at night and I’m a father on weekends. It’s not how I designed it, but that’s how it worked out.

Oddly enough, I hate reading and love writing. I can’t find time to do either. I only read non-fiction—typically business books and magazines.
