a cartoon about life in information technology

My Life in IT is a cartoon concept I started with my friend and graphic designer, Bert Mahoney. We produced the pilot cartoon, and we had a few other concepts in the works, but life and other priorities has kept this project on the backburner.

The inspiration for this cartoon is... my life in IT. Being in a corporate IT department, I'm surrounded by insanity—incomplete requirements, no priorities, no direction, lackluster leadership, lazy users, crazy dramatic co-workers, politics, territorialism, conflicts-of-interest, loose cannons, chauvinism, harassment, discrimination, rumor mills and no common sense.

IT departments are unique in the enterprise because they deal with every business unit at a low tactical and strategic level. We're constantly bombarded with other people's problems all the while fighting our own. Sometimes the requests are just plain ridiculous and short-sighted. You can't help but laugh. That's why I decided to take actual events and turn them into cartoons.
